Lapland, Finland: First Impressions From a Winter Wonderland

•

Lapland, Finland has been on my bucket list the last few years, and after finally visiting, I can confidently say it’s one of the most magical winter destinations I’ve ever experienced.

Located above the Arctic Circle, Finnish Lapland is known for its snowy landscapes, polar nights, Northern Lights, reindeer, and unforgettable winter experiences. From cozy ski resorts to glass igloos designed for aurora viewing, Lapland feels like stepping into a real-life snow globe.

During my visit, I spent time exploring Levi is one of Lapland’s most popular winter resorts. Levi is known for its excellent skiing, charming village atmosphere, and easy access to winter activities like snowmobiling, husky safaris, and Northern Lights tours. Visiting during polar night when the sun doesn’t rise above the horizon, was especially surreal—soft blue light, glowing snow, and an incredibly peaceful atmosphere.

Lapland isn’t just about adventure—it’s also about slowing down. Finnish saunas, warm cafés, candlelit dinners, and quiet snowy forests make this a destination that feels both exciting and deeply calming.

This is just the beginning of my Lapland travel experience. I’ll be sharing more soon about where to stay, what to do, when to visit, and tips for planning your own trip to this unforgettable part of the world.
